Fasting not only keeps the body healthy, But the mind also starts separating from misconceptions. Fasting also helps in alleviation, diagnosis, and treatment of many severe diseases. To cure Jyvardi diseases in Ayurveda etc., the law of prohibiting food and diet is often told. That is why fasting has an important role to keep the body healthy and to mitigate diseases. The body continues to function as a mechanical device. The main function of saving food is to throw it out and to nourish every part of the essence. 

Fasting as first aid :

The participating organs – gastric, alimentary canal, gall bladder, liver, and intestines get rest. Excess food consumes a large part of the body’s energy to digest it, so toxic substances are not eliminated. This condition causes diseases. When we are sick, all our power is spent on expelling the toxic substances, consequently, there is no hunger. Therefore, fasting is the natural and simplest treatment among all preventive measures. Animals and birds are also seen as fasting when they are diseased. we can say Fasting is the first aid of all beings.

Fasting and its definition and purpose :

Fasting is very beneficial in asthma, obesity, constipation, hemorrhoids, appendicitis, sprue, arthritis, and liver diseases. 

According to the famous Ayurveda Maharishi Charak, fasting is the ultimate medicine in diseases like vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, fever, the heaviness of the body, nausea, Aphra, anorexia, etc. Due to this, disease resistance and puberty are maintained in the body. By fasting, the components of the body and brain are refreshed. When the stomach is full of blood, the blood flow is more towards the abdomen, due to which the brain gets less energy. Fasting causes unnecessary body loss and hunger in the body. Fasting of diseases such as mental debility, depression, anxiety, etc. is resolved. This leads to newness, elation, and self-promotion. Dr. Purrington has advised those who seek health, the happiness of life, beauty, freedom, peace, and power to fast.

How long fasting should be – short, long, intermittent, and alternate :

According to the physical capacity and disease of the person, there is a law to fast from one day to twenty-one days. 

Short-term fasting: of three to four days is beneficial in diseases like headaches, stomach disorders, colds, throat swelling, etc.

Long fasting: is done in arthritis, liver diseases, and cancer. 

intermittent fasting and its definition: occurring at irregular intervals; not continuous or steady. this type of fasting is sometimes injurious to health and can cause big damage to your body

alternate-day fasting :

fasting for vegetarian and non-vegetarian:

A long fast is required for a non-vegetarian and a short fast for a vegetarian. Fasting one day a week is sufficient to increase the vitality and health of healthy individuals. By fasting, a lot of toxic matter comes out of the body’s flesh and gets into the blood, so natural salts are needed to destroy the toxic effect and get it out of the body. Banners for those who fast for a long day, Apple, Tomato, Cucumber, Carrot, Radish, Spinach, Cabbage. Honey and buttermilk should be used.

Weekly fasting :

 Drinking only water or lemon water in weekly fasting is sufficient. In the initial days of fasting, the symptoms of stomach air, insomnia, mouthfeel tasteless, deodorant sweating, etc. appear. Continuing fast patiently, they are automatically quenched.

During the fasting period, you should work lightly while not worrying about lying on the bed. Drinking a little water, again and again, is also beneficial. Consuming cold drinks, tea, coffee, and smoking destroys the benefits of fasting. The hungry stomach makes the intake of food stronger. 

The long fast should be opened with fruit juice or honey. It is better to stay on a fruit diet for a few days than to eat heavy food. In Indian religious traditions, various fasts have been incorporated from time to time with the goal of good health. On Ekadashi(15 days), the prohibition of starchy items like rice, which increases obesity, and the instructions of fruits that increase vitality are certainly praiseworthy. It should be done only when there is a desire for fasting like food. 

Fasting done with enthusiasm and happiness brings more benefits. Those who are not hungry and thirsty, people with headaches, vertigo, low blood pressure, children, pregnant women, and elderly people should fast as soon as possible.

Benefits of Fasting to lose weight :

The body gets nourishment by consuming food. After consuming food items, the nutritional portions of the body are converted into body substance by various processes carried out by the digestive system, which leads to enhancement of bodily elements such as juice, blood, and meat. Body truths are deposited in the body, and the sacrilegious substances of Annadis are thrown out of the body in a palette; Like- feces, urine, sweat, sneezing, etc. This keeps the body functioning smoothly.

Human eats excess substances due to attachment or taste. To digest this extra substance and throw out discarded substances, the digestive system of the body has to do extra action.

Substances that are saved after body enlargement activity or which are going to be needed in the future, such substances are stored in different places in the body. The body recycles them when they are needed, but the body gradually becomes fat due to the small amount of matter always accumulating and not being used properly. In such situations, the action has to be taken to exclude those substances and throw out the accumulated substances. That is why salt and aliphatic substances are prohibited in high blood pressure and diuretics are used which throws them out of salts. It is advisable to exercise or walk to get rid of fattening substances. This reduces the viscosity seen externally and removes the accumulated substances and disease-causing substances in the walls of the internal blood vessels.

Overeating and fasting :

If the road becomes narrow by encroachment, then there is a problem in traffic. In the same way, sometimes other conditions of the body also occur, due to which blood vessels get blocked and obstruct the nutrition of the body. This causes various kinds of pain to the body. When force is used to widen the road, then those who are used to force have trouble. Similarly, the effect of the drug in the body also generates affliction.

If the body is to be kept smooth and the afflictions are not allowed, then some rules should be followed. By following the rules, there is no accumulation of contaminated and non-essential substances in the body.

The simple rule of the body is to eat only when you are hungry, you have to eat only as much as you are hungry and eat only those which are useful for the body. If the previously eaten food has been digested, then it should be eaten again. Whenever there is a discharge of feces and urine, they should be disposed of soon. Greediness, the taste of the tongue, or the withdrawal of foolish substances are more. This leads to the accumulation of heterogeneous substances in the body, which invite various diseases. In contrast, the balance of the body is maintained due to physical labor, exercise, and fasting, etc. and the digestive system is maintained properly.

Dharma Artha Kama and Moksha

After getting the disease, it is better to avoid the disease than to do the treatment. Our ancient sages had made a subtle study of the various actions of the body by their intellect. The essence of which he revealed in the scriptures. A healthy body is required for the attainment of Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha.
